It sounds like the sear is badly worn, which is a common problem with a rifle at least 60 years old.
You will probably have to get the sear re-tipped and re-profiled.
Make sure it is done properly by a competent gunsmith.
The hardening and profile is critical as the sear connects to the piston by a very fine indent.
You need John Knibbs International, in Birmingham, they carry all the spares,if you can't find them email me on andypickering50@hotmail.com
and I'll find the link for you.
thanks guy's

Also a second mortgage, I think he must be the most expensive supplier on the planet.Originally Posted by andypickering

can't agree on the parts price query, don't forget they're not selling on company stuff, everything will have to be manufactured for or by them, for things like a Service Mark 2 a quote of £120 for a full spring, piston ring and overhaul, washers etc, including strip down and total re-blue(Black actually)doesn't sound bad in this day and age, find a machine shop to make the parts locally and you'll see why.
John Knibbs carry some spares for the Service, but the last on line catalogue did not list a sear.
Chambers do not list a sear, either.
J.Knibbs on line catalogue is currently unavailable, as the site is under re-construction.
As I said in my original reply, try and find a decent machine shop to re-tip and re-profile your existing sear.
As John Knibbs is now the distributor for all non current BSA and WEBLEY spares, you don't have a lot of choice but to deal with him. Chambers have a good stock, but I suspect a lot of their spares are sourced from J.Knibbs.
I have bought spares from J.Knibbs over the years, and have often flinched at the prices, but think how much more expensive they would be if they were manufactured in the UK.
"think how much more expensive they would be if they were manufactured in the UK."
Where are they made then?
