Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2014 Round 4 Results

    Hi All

Sorry this post is late (again), but this week is was not down to family or friends but simply one of getting over tiredness. Yup, yours truly was definitely cream crackered by the time I got home and needed a brief respite before a long soak in the shower; feeling almost human again now.

And I expect I was not alone among Swallows FTC members feeling the aches of many days hard work to prepare today’s course for you. As a result, I’ll kick off by naming the crew who gave so much of their time. Gerry and Stewart Jellicoe (equipment and ground clearance, shed management and cooking), Steve Noakes, Dave, Carla, Vince, Kim and Peter who contributed between them many days effort collecting together our new target lofting posts, putting out ropes, hacking brambles and 7’ tall nettles and the course setting itself yesterday. Thank you all – lots and lots and lots. One extra special thanks to Steve Noakes for hand making our new club-related Swallows In Flight target. I’d love to have seen it in its original placement, where the birds were above the horizon and silhouetted against the skyline. It will be in future, when we’ve tweaked the knock-down paddle so there’s no daylight showing when placed so high above the peg position.

Anyway …. At last, here are the results from SIHFT Round 4. Please, as usual, let me know a.s.a.p. (by email or BBS PM) in the event that you spot any suspected errors or omissions.

For all/any of you who were unable to stay after the shoot to collect your badge, please remind us when you attend any future SIHFT round and we’ll happily hand you one of the right colour in exchange for small change (unless you’re in either Junior or Primary Class, in which case the badges are FREE )

For those same people, you missed out on an opportunity to win either today’s £32 cash draw or the Air Arms goody bag – for these prizes you HAVE to be present when your name comes out of the bag

Team scores today and cumulatively are :
    Club Round 4 Total
    Oaks 286 1115
    Buxted 275 1061
    Swallows 274 1052
    Horsham 269 1056
    Iden Fern 269 1023
    Ford 256 1001

Oaks go ahead by a further 11 points and, even this early in the season, are beginning to look like the uncatchables. Swallows FTC (yes, I know it was on our home territory) so very nearly made it in to today’s 2nd spot. If only I’d not mucked up that gimme rat on peg 8

Another short break now before we ascend middle Weald to the land of Hobbits – meeting on July 6th in the dastardly woods of Buxted.

Happy shooting in the meantime ….

    Ha!...'The untouchables'...got a ring to it!

Great day got caught out by the wind on peg 27 (30mm @ more than 40yds...) Enough clever targets to rob us of a clear round!

Good balance of targets, great weather and i beat Simpleton, what could be better!

Always enjoy shooting at swallows but I don't know how you manage to set the course one target better than me every time

1st time it's happened this year - a club not quite being able to field a full team.

I guess I should have reminded everyone in my opening post that the SIHFT rules allow for a 'lucky dip' card to be drawn for any club in this situation. You're only allowed a max of 3 lucky dip cards (per round) and they are picked at random from ALL cards. Should any card drawn be from another club's top 5 team member, they are redrawn.

In today's event, the first card drawn for Iden Fern was not knocked out for this reason and was a 51; a true lucky card for you today as this represent a very respectable addition and the means by which Iden achieved today's total of 269 and =4th place

We keep and review all cards (especially yours) and compare against the course setting notes.

This way we know how many of the type you regularly plate and add one more each time we know your coming down.

    Many thanks Mike...

We have a couple that are MIA at the moment... hopefully we will not have to use the lucky dip too often..
