Loads of good powders for the 223.

Another vote for Vihtavuori powders , with n133 or n135 being my medicine.

From the Hodgdon range- H4895 and Benchmark are also excellent... I used the later powder to zip a 40 grn Nosler at 3820 fps, which was actually flatter shooting than my 204.

Viht N120 for me, great with 50 52 53 and 55 grainers and you use less than with most othe powders so get more bangs from a tub of powder.

+1 for Reloader 15 if you're using heavier .223's in the 69-80gr range, very consistent and clean burning.

Tried several powders and have settled on Viht N133. A very clean and accurate powder which in my area is easily obtainable.

    Lots of mentions for TR140...economical.

I don't shoot .223 (as yet) but take a look at the reload swiss range. I think RS40 was a .223 powder, same stable as TR140 about £55 a kilo when available (as it will be soon if not already).

HPS were advertising it at the Phoenix.

H-335 works quite well, and meters well in most powder measures. I use it exclusively for 55 grain bullets. I worked up to Nostler's recomended accuracy load of 25.0 grains. I use whichever SR, or SR magnum primer I can get. It shoots more acurately than most people are capable of shooting.

    Varget

In answer to the original post, Varget is a good all round powder for .223 loads. It can be used with all bullet weights. It usually gives excellent results.
