    Only my opinion;

    It was sold as a "boxed" rifle, therefore the box was part of the sale, if you haven't received the box, you should be entitled to a refund.

    Calling the bloke an Idiot on the forum may not help the negotiation process, but I can understand the feeling.

    How's that for Devils advocate.

    If this collectable item was advertised in the sale description as being in it's original intact box, then the box was part of the sale, so if it's arrived in a mutilated condition you should be entitled to a refund, either total or partial, as the item is not as described.
    A late Senior box is on offer on Eb@y, and it's current price is £63, so that shows what an original box adds to a sale.

    Unfortunately it seems to be a misunderstanding. The OP claims to have asked for the stock and action to be separated. It takes very little logic to see where that could lead to, if one were the perhaps not entirely clued-up seller.

    One must put this down to experience.

    Personally when trying to get a message across I go to extreme measures to ensure that I am not misunderstood and conversely I rapidly get frustrated being on the receiving end of ambiguous ones.

    Reminds me of a car boot sale find of a near mint boxed 50s toy car, I asked the price, confirmed the purchase, and as I was being handed the item the plonker went ahead and scribbled the price on the box.

    Appears to be the case. In separating the action from the stock, and wrapping them separately, the outcome may have been that the two items would no longer fit inside the box propertly. A bit drastic to cut up the original box apparently without the buyers knowledge - guess the seller thought he was doing a favour separating the parts.
