    improved model d age

    i have just taken possesion of a bsa improved model d from John aka the armourer (top man and i was pleasently supprised its in better nick than described) anyway i would like to know the age of from one of you knowlegable chaps if i may

    Thanks for the compliment mate, I tried to find the answer to this, and it was hard because it is the side lever release model.
    Anyhow have a bump on me.

    Here you go mate, both sets (pre and post 1918) of serial runs are here;

    It's probably the first part of 1913 looking at the total for the period your number is in, and the "S" prefix denotes a safety sear, which had been introduced the previous year

    For a donation of £15 (I think) John Knibbs can tell you the exact day of dispatch etc. as he has the original BSA records.
