    BTAS servicing

    Hi folks

Right, simple question. Is there anyone known to a BBS member who is capable of and willing to undertake a service on a BTAS modified HW100.

It appears that Ben might work on theoben rifles still but because of some worries about the HW100 version going hot, will not do them (Thanks Robin)

This rankors a tad as he created the thing.

The only other option is to turn the thing in to be chopped because if this is a concern I wont sell it to a none FAC holder and dont want it on my FAC. Currently it only has a leaky fill valve.

    Many thanks

Leaky fill valve can be sorted without having to send it to a specialist. No need to touch the regulator.

Are you talking about the valve on the cylinder front where the quick fill goes or the one on the valve that the cylinder screws into??

Or am I wrong on both counts and the BTAS mods make it totally different

I would have thought if he had already worked on the rifle that there should not be an issue about him doing it again, have you spoke to him about it or are you just working on rumour that he wont touch HW100's.

This is seems strange as I think he started work on the hw100's to stop them going "hot."
At the time people were very pleased with what he did.

Have you spoken to him directly?

As far as I can tell it is the fill valve.

Its not rumour, I dont work on rumour. Someone wanted to buy it, approched Ben who was doing his Theobens apparently, who said he would no longer work on them as there were worries with the regs failing and defaulting hot. I had (Have) a hell of a lot for time for Ben so it threw me a bit.

I dont shoot airguns much now, but if this is going to be an issue then I may end up keeping it for multi positional practice and get it fixed.

In real terms all it needs is to be filled for every shoot as it wont hold a full charge for any long period of time, but I dont fancy messing with compressed air, seen too many accidents.

So, all very helpfull fellas but does anyone have a name they can suggest.

The leak has nothing to do with the regulator, so replacing a failed o-ring will not cause it to "go hot".

The only things that can change the power is the hammer tension, and the regulator adjustment. These two things are untouched when replacing the usual culprit o-rings.

According to Mibro’s web site, which could be out of date?

He is still doing the conversion on them.

I know, but would the reg etc not need to be looked at in a full service?

No, the buyer did and I don't have contact details.

That's why mine was done and you have to ask yourself why, out of a TX200, Prosport, BTAS 410K, V-Mach HW35, and a Daystate huntsman (all bar one bought new) it was the one I kept?

All I need is the name of someone who is capable of giving the rifle a good service and check.....any ideas?

Jeff Westly who shoots at Cambridge HFT would be my first choice. Many of my friends who have hw100's have had a service and tune from him.
