Best bbs for the Baikal Makarov?

In view of the rifled barrel, I suppose it's some kind of lead or coated bb.

Steel are most reliable. I wouldn't worry too much about the rifling, the Russians use steel in these and the Drozd and no issues.

Usual reason for lead is at clubs who don't allow steel. For this best I have found are 4.4mm H&N lead coated. 4.5 H&N and Gamo can jam a bit

I've tried copper, steel and lead. The best are the shiny steel (as already said). Someone once reccomended lead which cycle well enough but not as accurate or as consistent as the shiny's. Noticable drop in power because of the weight too

    And yet.......

In my gen5 Mak 4.4 or 4.5 lead bb are more accurate than steel.
I suggest you try both, as like most guns individual barrels will have a preference for one or the other.

I have a 2003/2007 Baikal makarov (different serial numbers) and purchased a replacement smooth bore barrel and barrel extender (which looks like a moderator) from a Russian seller on a well known Internet auction website. Personally I find the best ammunition is the H&N copper coated lead bb's.
