So its as rare as a blade of grass and worth twice as much?

What about the articulated cocking lever, did the Chinese bother with this?
Also, fasteners look slotted not Phillips and the receiver appears to taper at the rear (cadet Major style) but that may be my eyesight.

I'm off to chase up B2 images......

No, I don't think so Ian and Mallyally. Both the Baikal IJ22 and IJ38 have their particular recognisable stock.
When I first clapped my eyes on this I immediately thought Chinese and it still may be but the points I made earlier would suggest it is not.
That front dovetailed sight looks old school, much like the Diana 16 (which is screwed if I remember)
At this point I only have the images to refer to and it has me baffled.

Possibly a spanish Bascaran - an early Cometa from the 1970s ?

Sold in this country as the Lincoln Comet, Comet Deluxe and Super Comet.

The fore end tip, cylinder end cap, sling swivel (on the barrel block) and articulated cocking link all look right.

    Iain

    Edit - found this

    http://www.muzzle.de/N3/Druckluft/Ba..._cometa_5.html

Comet Deluxe is described (The Airgun Book) as having deeper fore-end, windage adjustment on rearsight.

    Smile Cometa V owners

Here is one I forgot to ask; what calibre were they available in and were they rifled or smooth bore?

    Cheers
