    I would recommend an epoxy putty called Milliput that is ideal for the bedding job that you have in mind, it has a longer curing time than the araldite putty.
    I recently bedded the recoil lug and tang on my .204 and it has worked well.
    Make sure that you apply plenty of release agent to the action otherwise you will glue it into the stock.
    Kiwi was shoe polish works well.

    Thanks Pothunter, I'm going to have a practice with blue tack first to get the quantity of putty correct - I'll use the shoe polish, cheers for the tip.
