d i y drop tube
now being a tight arse leeds loiner i decided to make my own drop tube for bp loading.
15mm copper pipe is £10 for 3 m length and i only want 24 inch.
at car boot i saw this long ornamental copper trumpet of one single length of around 24 inches lol it even as a copper funnel type mouth at the end.
it even fits nearly perfect in the lee mouth expander die too..all for £5

Used a drop tube for loading 45/70 b/p loads but found i got exactly the same results by putting powder in and shaking the case up and
down with my thumb over the end a few of times. Lots quicker, easier and nil cost.
BUT.!! -------- I openly admit i didnt shoot long distances or for anything other than Fun and a love of the 45/70.
My normal load was 55grns of TS2 with a card wad and a Postell bullet cast from pure lead lubed with Wonderlube. Free standing at 50m
i could usually hit a 5" group 9 out of 10 shots with a Pedersoli rolling block, Ok, not brilliant but hey ho!
50m doesn't sound much, try it free standing with a heavy rifle fitted with open sights before judging.
PS, I really miss my Roller.!!
