If you do mean lock time, I wouldn't bother. A very good springer shooter I know believes the extra forward weight of the full length barrel gives more benefit than the faster lock time, if any, of a short barrel.

I was only thinking of the "lock time" being better also a bit better for hunting and,not so long,and a bit of HFT use...
Lock time simply means the length of time the pellet's in the barrel.
Another two or three inches isn't going to make much difference. And, as Si says, a bit more weight up front might increase accuracy by reducing muzzle flip.
The carbine will be more manageable if you want the gun for hunting though.
