Sod cammo - get a second-hand wax jacket! Waterproof, breathable, last a lifetime and no ****ty synthetic fibres anywhere.

Wax last but are heavy and don't breathe very well. Paramo last, breath plus there quiet and light.

Whilst I would normally sign the praises of Paramo gear, in this instance I can't recommend.

I own a top of the range mountain jacket which has seen a great deal of use on the hills of the Peak District and whilst lowland hiking. It's great for this type of use, but too expensive and susceptable to snagging and subsequent rips for use in crawling around my shooting grounds.

I would definately recommend a Deerhunter Ram jacket, yeh it's cammo, but it is also a bl00dy good jacket, loads of pockets, waterproof, durable, warm but not too hot - all in all just about perfect as a hunters jacket.

Forget wax jackets, we don't live in the stone age any more!!!

You can get some very good, and reasonably priced jackets from Cabelas.com or if you want to buy British my dad really likes the Shark range of jackets, he's a goose guide so he's out in all weather 6 days a week through the winter.
