    Theoben Eliminator From 1999

    Good morning all,

can someone tell me what kind of piston seal an Eliminator from 1999 (serial # TB 11887) is using and whether they are still available?

I read somewhere that Theoben was using o-rings for a while. I believe the Eliminator/Crow Magnum I owned a few years back had the piston seal with the grooves cut in it.

I see Chambers is still offering a seal kit.

The gun I'm intending to buy is still with the original owner, has fired 1000 pellets, comes with a Simmons Pro Air 6-18X40, original gun bag and has never been tempered with.

Is there something I have to look out for?

    Many thanks for your feedback.

    Best,
    Jonas

Hi, I have one which I think is the same year, it`s an HE model. It has 2 rubber rings of differing section sizes fitting in 2 piston slots. You can shop around and find the required diameter and section sizes but I think they must be the correct hardness. ( can`t remember the proper material trade name). Ps, do NOT open the breach until the cocking arm has been removed! hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies guys; if it's the Zephyr seal, would you know where I could buy one from?

If you can chrono the gun so much the better. If it`s a .22 it should be around 25 ftlbs and if .20 like mine, around 22-23 ftlbs. I wouldn`t strip it if around these figures. A poor breach o-ring will cause loss of power too and that`s obviously easiest to rectify. It should be hard to cock and stay that way if the sealed power unit is ok. I am 95% sure it will have a solid flat fronted alloy piston with 2 O rings though but I may be wrong. Rapidnick and a few others are well versed on them and if you watch the thread, if you`re lucky, some of them may reply.---Shaun.

My Eliminator was 1996 HE model & it too had 'o' ring piston seals.

It will have two o rings the early sirocos had the zephyr heads all later guns had the zephyr grooves machined into top of cylinder and as said if its performing ok leave it alone

Many thanks for the tips. I will have the opportunity to test shoot the gun at 30 meters today. I will also take my chrono along.

    Cool

Gun was in great condition; very nice Hyedua stock, deep bluing, not too much barrel droop, barrel weight instead of the evolution silencer. All in all a very nice package which had been very well taken care of.

Over the chronograph it was only doing 800 f/s with JSB Exacts. But since everything was in such good order I bought it.

The first few shots at the range went literally through the same hole at 35 meters, but then the not so good trigger made sure the group opened up significantly.

Before adjusting the evolution unit, I couldn't feel the second stage and I just had to pull through in one motion, like a single stage trigger. I adjusted the second stage let-off, now there is a clear distinction between first and second stage.

Today I was shooting it again, even though it is under-powered, it requires good follow-through, a solid trigger technique and concentration to shoot reasonable groups

It's a real tester and I did have to shoot my Pro Elite and HW97 for a bit in order not to feel too bad about my shooting skills!

Great, glad it was in such good nick. Is it .22 then? They are not easy to master and I need to shoot mine regularly but a 20 shot session leaves me with a sore left arm. If you decide to investigate the low power pm me as there are some things to watch out for when stripping the gun as power increase tactics shouldn`t really be discussed on open forum.--Shaun

I was shootings the Eliminator at the range today and the POI seemed to change after a few shots. Now I noticed when changing the scope that the o-rings in the Dampa mount are worn and you can actually move the scope sideways.
Would someone know where I can buy replacement o-rings?
