BSA Goldstar

As an avid BSA collector and restorer my latest purchase is a Goldstar.
I have to admit that I have never actually held one let alone owned one.
I will be reblacking it but my initial thoughts after having some shots and tinkering with the magazines are, wow, I am well impressed with it.
At first the magazine wasn't cycling fully so the pellet probe was catching the mag and dinted it. I tinkered around for about 10 minutes and got all 3 mags cycling without a hitch.
What's other peoples thoughts on these.?

I had one and always question my wisdom in selling it, powerful, accurate, with all the advantages of mag feed and being a springer! No gas ram to give you a headache and no worrying about air supply etc. A cracker!

Yes mate, powerful, accurate and spring powered, what more can you ask.
As I'm gonna reblack it I will check internals and change accordingly but my thoughts are that it seems fine.

Just repaired two of these, lovely smooth rifles. One chap had let pellets fall back from the mag into the space where the sliding chamber/pellet probe moves backwards and forwards. Apparently this can happen with certain pellets if you point the rifle skyward when cocking. Best to point barrel down when cocking. Fitted Ox spring to the other, had to cut off 3 coils and reshape to get it under 12 ft lb.

I had mine for about 5 years that a very long time for me I get bored very quickly with the same gun
but there was some thing about the goldstar very well made multi shot springer you con't go wrong

Fozzy one thing if you remove it from the stock, put some tape around the trigger to keep the pins in that hold sears, spring, and trigger itself. I did not and it took 2 hours to fit back in to the gun ,as I handled the gun the pins fell out , I was lucky in one way as they all fell in to my tool tray. It is a work of art to get them back in . Love mine ,along with Superstars one in .177 and the other .22 .

Thanks for the advice gunman.
I have stripped and serviced a lightning which I know is the same trigger mechanism as the Goldstar.
Once again, cheers, its always good to get advice.

Hot chemical blacking mate. The results are better than new.
You get out what you put in. The better the preperation in polishing the metalwork down, the better the results.
I did a Mercury S and when I put that at the side of my original but emacculate Airsporter mk2 S you cannot tell the difference.
Me and my mate have tried numerous cold blacking formulas but found they are more of a coating than a reaction to the carbon within the steel and eventually go dull or grey.
