    What is this?

Now, Ive always wanted one of these and a fellow BBS member very kindly donated this one free of charge.

Now all I need to know is - 'What Is It?'

It came with a diopter sight. It fits in the non threaded side of a HW foresight unit but its too tight to fit in the threaded side. It has glass in the centre but it doesn't magnify.
I ask the font of knowledge in the 'Collectable' section - what is it?

Thank you for any (sensible ) answers.

Is the glass tinted at all, even slightly? Polarising filter maybe? Next question needs to be "why is it?"
The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

No, the glass is NOT tinted.

It reminds me of the 50 foot adaptor for a Leupold scope. These were far larger (40mm+), obviously, but looking though them you would almost think there was no glass there. They only worked when fitted to the front of a high mag scope.

    What is it?

Could be part of an optical correction system that works in conjunction with another lens in the aperture rearsight. For people who wear glasses but have difficulty using them when shooting.
