Ive measured two springs from the early HW50, with screw in rear plug. According to my notes(which may contain errors) they measure:

    Inside diameter: 13,6mm
    Wire thickness: 3,0mm
    Number of coils: 32.

I have used Jim Maccaris E3200 spring with good results in these.

If you're tuning it, a titan no5 cut to 210mm will give you enough for around 18mm piston weight whilst still having the power to push near 11 fpe

Will a Titan no.5 accept the standard HW50 spring guide?

The Titan no5 is around 13.2 but IIRC the standard guide is like a dick in a shirt sleeve anyway

    Cheers Thevoid
This is a mates rifle and when you cock it the cocking link is catching on the spring as it
    Compresses, the spring size is 19.5 o/d 13.5 I/d and 225mm long
I have a new airsporter spring which is 20.5 od and 14.5 I'd and
That is a good fit into the piston but a little loose on the guide I
Was hoping the original spring was wrong but your measurments
Have confirmed this was not the case .have fitted a beer can piston
Sleeve but the spring is such a loose fit in the piston the cocking link just mangled
This up I may see if an old hw77 spring may fit and cure the problem I have
Renewed the cocking link roller but there is a lot of ware under the cylinder

Is the cocking lever (rear part) bent?

Would there be enough clearance in the underside of the lever for a nylon / Delrin insert, as some use as an anti-galling "slipper" insert?

Although I've never done this, could some epoxy type of filler be used on the underside of the cylinder, and then smoothed off (once the above is sorted) ?

Have a look on the Mainspring Data Thread in the Useful Airgun Section for details and sizes of lots of alternative springs.

    Hi Tony
Had a closer look at the piston and where the cocking link contacts there is wear that is
Chamfered down towards the spring going to see if I can get this built up with weld.
Thank for heads up to the mainspring thread
    Regards
