Question Using your hint and random desperate methodology

    Cuthbert?
    Cornellius?
    Bartholomew?
    Barton?

Briton? That unknown pistol is surely for those with an esoteric slant

I like the idea of a Cuthbert air pistol, sort of opposite to a Dennis the Menace gun, but it’s an English name with a bit more macho character.

    Here’s the answer:

I found it on an Argentinian website here http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/...arg-cal-45-_JM

Argentinian made airguns are few and far between, and this seems to be as good a site as any for finding them. I see a couple of Shark pistols are on offer. Occasionally a Mahely air pistol (Webley copy) turns up. However, I‘ve never tried importing an airgun from Argentina, so I don’t know how risky it might be.

    Using one's initiative

OK I cheated, your other pics are accessible including one of the breech stamping. Funnily enough I'm off to archery practice in a few minutes ( but I'm no Robin Hood ).
If I'd not cheated I was going to suggest it was Japanese shows how little I know.

    Cheers
