    HW80 sight query

    Afternoon all

Just got back from the antiques & militaria fair at Birmingham motorcycle museum (was pleasantly surprised at how much antique/collectable airgun stuff there), with a new addition to my Weihrauch collection.

S/N one million one hundred and fourteen thousand range seems to be around 1988 (stamped made in West Germany so must be pre 1990).

My question is it has a peep style front sight, I've never seen this before, has someone replaced the original blade or was such a version ever made?

I haggled the dealer down from £185 to £155 so I thin kI've done fairly well. Any thoughts appreciated-thanks Andy

I still have a front sight and back sight from my HW80 which I sold with scope on. The front sight is like yours as there was a little plastic wallet with it which contained various inserts including the peep type.

Looks like the standard HW interchangeable element foresight to me.

I always keep a spare - you never know when you may need another one. http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread....ch-open-sights What?

I bought my HW80 new about 12 years ago. I cannot remember exactly how much I paid for it but £155 for a second hand one sounds a very good price - you got a good deal!
The rifle was indeed originally fitted with a tunnel fore-sight and a selection of interchangeable elements as has already been confirmed. The '80 is a brilliant rifle and I am sure you will give you great service.
