Paul, it is a beautiful example. Almost too good to use!

I think the BSF break-barrel is the epitome of the type, it could be used as a representative of all the others.

In the Natural History Museum in London they keep a collection of preserved 'holotypes' which is an example of each of the animal species that are found on Earth (well they used to) - apart from Homo Sapiens....

If there was a museum of machines, I would vote the S60 as the holotype of the springers. It is the 'essential' springer.

Well done on snaring this one when they all seemed to become extinct in 1992.... Apart from the ones IJ bagged for his own museum....

There was another 65 for sale on that there German gun site (cant for the live of member the name) earlier this year.

That makes at least three in the world then. There must be someone alive in Germany who know's how many 65'as were produced.I recall the one I saw had a walnut, Tyrolean stock - a factory option ?

No. Not guilty. Ive only ever seen two BSF65s. One was for sale in AGW - the one I bought and that one on the German web site. Several collectors and trade members (M.A.G., Jeans Military Memories, B.A.R.) hadn't heard of one.
I was even accused of being handle with the engraver and Dremmel.

The one I bought from A.G.W. I had hear about before at a BASC Young Shots day our club was helping at near Penrith a few months earlier. The owner had told me he had a BSF65 and I thought he had mistakenly meant a model 55.

So your 65 is the unique whats the difference then if any compared to say a 55/60/70 then

The stock is not like anything I have seen on other BSFs being square sided beech. Also the trigger is adjusted through the end cap not through the trigger guard like on 54/55/60/70s. Its similar to smaller BSFs. I dont think the barrel is a standard size either and its not been cropped.
