Just When You Think It's All Finished......

A discovery comes along and bites you in the bum.
I recently acquired a Webley Hawk MkII with the second pattern stock (the one I'm appealing for bits for) and thought I'd finally completed my Hawk family tree. I then have a look in Chris Thrale's book and notice that his second pattern Hawk MkII has a different recoil pad to mine So, I now have to start the hunt for a Hawk MkII with the 2nd pattern stock, but with a crescent shaped recoil pad to finally put my obsession to rest
Here's a link to the line-up as it stands now.

And here's a pic of the stock differences

The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

    From the top,
Hawk MkII, first pattern with MkI style stock,
Hawk MkII, second pattern. Transitional stock with crescent recoil pad,
Hawk MkII, second pattern. Transitional stock with straight recoil pad,
Hawk MkII, third pattern. This style of stock, with slight modification, would also be used on the MkIII Hawk.
Much as I love the Hawk series of rifles, I realise they are far from perfect. It could even be argued that the Hawk was the rifle that ruined Webley's reputation, and led to their demise.
