    Walther LP53 project, help needed.

I've just acquired a Walther project gun.

I need some help from you learned gents. Its serial no. 016093 and its fair to say the finish isn't so much distressed as bed-wettingly terrified! Its worn, dented, scratched and a bit battered. How would I best sort that? I think a crackle finish would help lots, and it may even be historically correct, but I've never tried anything like this before. Any pointers?

Its also short a rear sight and grips. I know the hw35 rear sight will fit so that's not an issue, but is there anyone here who knows the whereabouts of a set of grips?

The rear sight for the Walther LP53 was also used on their rifles like the LG51, LG53 and LG55. Might be a tough item to find as most of the rifles came with a rear diopter but I have seen a number of Walthers with both sights on the rifles.

I once used crackle black out of a spray can to re-do the dash on an MGB.

It did not end up looking very OEM.

Perhaps more practice and the right conditions were required.

For the black textured/crackle finish, check out item No. 370768045778 on the bay (thanks to Mick, aka the-logun-ator, who put me onto it)...black textured car bumper spray paint, hard wearing and very easy to apply, looks good too. I've used this to spray the silencer on my Skan , gives a decent textured finish not too dissimilar to the crackle finish of a LP53.
