Cased BSA Improved Mod D Realised Auction Price

    Hello,

If I heard correctly, the interesting, cased BSA Improved Mod D (Lot 610) discussed in an earlier thread surprisingly failed to sell at the highest bid of £950.

    http://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com...2894&saletype=

The AC GLASHAN AIR MG CORP .174 BB Aerial Gunnery Machine Gun Trainer (Lot 608) sold for £ 3000 plus commission.

    Regards

    Brian

Hiya mate & Thanks for the heads up.
I am really replying to the AC GLASHAN AIR MG CORP machine gun trainer ! I have 4 Mk 111 Sportamatic fairground guns,
These are 1950 ish & look mechanically very much like the above?

They are 3/16 th Ball bearing firing Semi-Auto,s
They have I am sure the same " Lift " operated mechanism for loading & Could easily be full auto , What do you think,
I am sure this loading mechanism was used on almost all fairground guns, Simple Very reliable & Will last a million shots,
    Ged.

.....and when you see the commission etc that you have to pay on auction prices, many thanks to this forum and its sponsor Ed for letting us have a For Sale section here.

    Holts

I have had some envelope bids beaten by a £1 in the past, and not round figures either

the webley pistol went for over £300,??.the airsporter had a very visable large gouge out of the stock which should have been in the description,

    Angry holts

Hi all, I watched most of the Holts auction online, partly because I had a pair of shotguns in the London sale (Also just missing the reserve by £100). Some guns made bonkers money, and others made nothing, when they should have. Unsold lots command a 10% fee of the reserve set. The sealed bids do not carry descriptions either based on condition, so its quite possible to end up with a pig in a poke ! I have an article in a prehistoric book I bought years ago about the Mac Glashan air machine gun, facinating ! I had a mild interest in the cased BSA, but not at that price. It seemed like £250 for the rifle and £750 for the box!

    Thanks Brian,

I think the BSA 'set' had too many issues and it seems the market thought so too. Bit surprised the Webley went for some £300. It seems to be the highest serial number known for a tin grip Junior, other than a possible anomaly I am aware of and I thought about leaving a bid myself. It would not have been anywhere near the price realised though!

    John
