    Gordon,
Just be carefull not to overtighten the 2 front stock screws as the wood is very thin there and will split. So just nip them up gently and use threadlock to stop them vibrating loose.

I've not got a 57 and not touched one for ages (nothing wrong with them, i think they are decent enough) - was wondering if sticking a small o ring in around the screw shaft, to sit under the screw head would also work to strop them undoing ? I've done this on a couple of guns where the screws tended to work loose and it's always worked well.

Blinking eck Jon, iv`e just paid £8 +vat for some Loctite Red, none of my usual store stocked it so ended up at a engineering suppliers, i don`t remember it being that expensive. There were a couple of cheaper alternatives but they needed 250 degrees + to loosen the threadlock. or is that normal ? Anyone want an unopened tube of 243 threadlock ? Gordon. PS £8 +vat is not bad just Goggled it.

Would you fit the "o" ring with out a washer, so rubber to wood ? sorry if it sounds a bit of a basic question . Gordon

I would fit the o ring under the washer. So.....wood/ o ring / washer / screw.
Or, if using the loctite , no need for the o ring.
When using an allen key in this situation ( front stock screws). ...insert the long leg of the allen key into the screw head socket and turn it by holding the short leg. That way you will not overtighten the screws.
The number of chewed up threads I have seen caused by folk not using an allen key correctly........well, I could write a book.

personally I'd ditch the washer as you want to stop the screw undoing, so screw-rubber-wood. Both of those are very high friction interfaces

    Gordon,
The o ring was fine if not using loctite 243. Use the standard screw and washer but loctite the screw in place.
You do not need to flood it with loctite, just a single blob will suffice.
Weihrauch know what they are doing when using a washer.
    Pete.
