The few times I've done this it seems standard practice that your RFD faxes his details to the sender,
They wont post without etc,
I recently bought an air rifle at a sale with a telephone bid,the auction house in question states that it needs a hard copy of the recipient RFD's licence before they can ship it.
Does anyone know if this a requirement under the VCR Act?.

the recipient rfd has to fax a copy to the sending rfd,it's the law.
I offered to do this,after a pause they replied,we don't have a fax machine.
Oh well, looks as if it will have to be a photocopy in the post.
Thank you for your quick and informative peplies.
Basically, both parties have to prove that they are RFDs. Email is acceptable but some RFDs don't have it......
There's a thought, but I'll have to explain what an email is to my RFD,he has more than a passing resemblance to Ronny Barker in Open All Hours, and appears to live his life in that era.Th,th,thank you.
Email, Fax or even Photocopy sent via snail-mail are normally acceptable.

My nearest RFD charged a reasonable £15 to accept an air rifle from another RFD.. When visiting another RFD I asked what he would charge, and it was £60, he thought it was a FAC type transaction
