    Small objective bell scopes

I am on the lookout for a scope that has a small objective bell like a Simmons WTC 1.5-5x20.

What other options are there? Is there a specific name for these scopes? Is the Simmons the only one to go for in terms of value for money and build quality?

    Thanks,

    JB

Keep your eyes peeled for the 1970's American-made classic Weaver 1" steel-tubed scopes - they often appear at arms fairs, etc. The K1.5-1 (1.5x), K2.5-1 (2.5x), V4.5-1 (1.5-4.5x) and V4.5W-1 (1.5-4.5x w/a) are top quality - up there with Leupold in their day - and don't have objective bells. I've been using them on various springers for years without any problems...

Speaking of Leupold - the 3-9x33 EFR is a cracker of a scope - I have one on my Regal and its a super combo. Relatively small and still cracking is the 6-24x40 version.

I had a Connect that was ok but wouldn't take NV so it got moved on...
I think and therefore...... I refuse to steal someone else's quote to try to sound more erudite or profound than I actually am.

Another often recommended scope is the Hawke 2-7x32.
AO, IR, and mildots. For the price of a used WTC that doesn't have any of those features... Plus it looks a lot better (to me).

    MTC Connect 3-12x24.
You can spend thousands and still miss a barn door or spend just enough and enjoy yourself. If you haven't got the talent to start with a million pound won't fix it. Whippet, Russell, a few bang sticks and a flat cap. http://www.smart-tech1st.co.uk

Thats more like it. Im after one that the bell objective is the same size as the tube.

I've seen a few shotgun scopes like this type. Just found a Bushnell 1-4x24mm

    Are these any good?

Never tried the Bushnell but if you can get used to the close eye relief of the MTC, they are brilliant.

How close is the eye relief?

Are we talking mm or 1 inch or more?

These are fantastic little scopes, very easy to use and they feel well made. I sold one on here recently only because I personally didn't like the reticle and I wanted a bit more mag.

    All of the above.

There isn't any - your eye is pressed up against the ocular.

Have you ever compared these to the crossfire range? I'm looking at both at the moment, can't make my mind up
