    Rough valuation please

I have a chance of Junior/Senior and Tempest pistols described as fair to excellent. The pensioner in question has no idea how to send me a pic but he lives locally and has invited me to come and view.

I would like to buy the three but have no real idea what would be a fair offer.

Best to ask on the "Collectibles" forum Bill.

Apart from age & condition, whether they are boxed, .177 or .22, come with original handbooks & so on all affects the price.
As a 'rule of thumb', for a private sale, I'd consider a fair offer to be around half to 2/3rds of what a dealer would put out similar items for. Quite easy to research on t'interwebby.
I was quite happy to pay £120 for a nice Senior .22 recently, which was above what I'd have liked to pay - but it was what I wanted.
It also depends on whether you want to treat it as a 'collectable' or use it - all mine get regular use, so there would be no point for me to pay top dollar for something I'd be afraid to take out of the box & plink in the back garden.

    I am with Bru.

I will add though - "fair" is a long way from "excellent."

Boxed, unmarked with provenance will demand a premium for any of them. Up to about £250 for a great example.

If, on the other hand, they are are each in pretty good condition with no box or literature then £100 - £120 would be about right.

If only "fair" then maybe £50- £80 for any of them depending upon ones definition of "fair " - you can probably guess that to me "fair" means well used, marked and with lettering pretty much obliterated.

Post photos so we can give a better judgement.

Sorry to hear that - presume you left your contact details in case he changed his mind?
