    New Toy - HW80 T

There seems to be a little bit of luck in my shopping at the moment.
Despite only reviewing boards and selling forums with the intention of selling I've ended up with an SLR88, Merc challenger, a S&B scope, HW55t and today another HW80.

Only some poor quality pictures, a friends picked it up for me from the seller for me, will be the far end of the month before I get it home; but I have some hope it may be a bit special despite the well used condition.

Serial numbers coming in with an 85 or 86 age.

A few brass bits, a non-HW Tyrolean stock, I'm hoping I can add the V-word to a description once I've properly had a look.

    Thoughts gents ?

    Up dating,

    well there's good and bad.
Stock condition better than expected, wood is not exhibition, but handsome and far from a standard black, oil finish still v good despite the odd dink from field use.

Action seemed black rather than the blue-grey of a standard HW finish, I was excited by this of course, but it felt odd to the touch, thought it had a layer of hardened oil dried over it, now think its been (well) sprayed black at some point in the past. Not 100% of this I'll investigate later in the week.

Seller gave the unwished for good news that he'd "fitted a new spring recently" as the original had "been in there forever".
Gun breaks easily, but is the hardest rifle to cock I've owned, although its very smooth in doing so.
Fires with a slam, a lump of recoil, no twang, no smoke but scraps 580 fps. A quick look at its belly, shows what looks like moly grease, and lots of it. Ahhh the joys of the home tuner improving things.
Brass trigger guard is engraved with 3 initials.
Handles beautifully, but needs someone with the correct knowledge to strip and confirm what's left (if anything) of the original internals and put right.

I'm comfortable enough to confirm its an 80k action in a Venom stock, but as yet, nothing to indicate if it is (or had) venom breathed on internals.

Anyone recognise the pattern for the big button safety ?

My Venom HW77 makes a real crack as it kind of short strokes; well its very fast. So you might be in luck still.

    Venom 80

Seems an early Venom 80 T from the mid 80's. Would be a stage one tune, so to speak. So new spring, guide and top hat all in steel back then.. The safety isn't venom as they never made brass safety ones. A nice find and the spring can be replaced with a vmach one. Mach 1.5
