    Cost of airgun servicing?

Does anybody have an idea of servicing costs of BSA , AA and DS compared to the independents?

I've always used John Bowkett but have an AA 400, a Falcon and a S10 to service. May be worth sending to an independent to do a one stop shop but as I'll be selling them I'd prefer a factory service as they have not been used by me for a long time and have come back off loan.

    thanks in advance

    Gary

Gary - Daystate quoted me £210 + carriage plus parts to service my Mk 3, it cost me £45 + parts to service my Mk 3 at my local RFD who is a Daystate accredited service agent!

John Bowkett is not really comparable as his blueprint tunes are not maintenance, they are improvements as well you should know (I have a Mk 3 S10 as well and it has been to Mr B). Independants were quoting £50-120 just to service the Super 10, so £120 for a Blueprint was not bad by any means!

I don't know how much John charges just to service, but remember a service from him will have all the latest blueprint modifications and upgrades done (the new hammer work makes it a lot quieter) so I would send the Super 10 to him for the treatment it deserves (and then keep it)...

    Factory Service

Sent my HW 100 off for a service before Christmas to Hull Cartridge. I was charged £96 including the return postage. New seals and trigger springs were fitted.
    Shoots like a dream again.

I used a chap in Swindon called Rancidtom (based by the outlet village) for my BSA S10. Despite the name he did a fantastic job on my rifle and I would highly recommend him. I found him through the bsa owners forum. I think he specialises in BSA but does all sorts. Don't know the price as I had a little more than just a service, full regulator strip, serviced, tuned etc was something like £100 but a bonus for you being local there's no postal fees or long travels.

This should if it works be his link on the other forum....

Please do BE AWARE-there is servicing AND there is SERVICING!! How many O-rings in a Daystate MK3-high 20's / low 30's-how many get changed at your local RFD?
    Never go off half cocked....

    All lies matter

Please do be aware that there are RFDs and Daystate Accredited Service Agent RFDs Baxter.

The one I use is a Daystate Accredited Service Agent! So all the O rings will be changed!

The point I was trying to make: there ARE gunshops out there who will change the breech seal and probe seal only and still charge a considerable sum for the service (or lack of)-I was not having a dig at you-just making a point. For Example-if I wanted a Rapid servicing, Kev G would be my first port of call

Most folks in "the know" use Staffordshire Custom Rifles for Daystate servicing

Darrin does a vert good job, but i am pretty sure he is taking no more guns on just now, until he has cleared some of his backlog.....Victim of his own success

I think you should declare that you are a consultant to Daystate, it could be that you are doing this on behalf of Daystate?

I did try to get you back on DOC but they pretty much laughed in my face. It seems that you spent your time trolling and, when they ignored you, you became abusive. First you were warned, then temporarily banned, then permanently banned. It seems that you have a few "issues"that have seen you banned from pretty much every forum you've been on. So sorry, I tried, but that ship has sailed.
