    Dating Walther LP53s

I have two of these one with the serial number 021540 which was dated by Walther (back in 1980) as being made in 1957.

I would now like to date my new acquisition which has the serial number 040050.

Short of writing to Walther again (35 years later) anyone know how to date it?

As a passing comment, I have found that I also have a few components of the rear sight (?) so if anyone is lacking something . . . . .

Walther don't reply to "dating requests" anymore AFAIK.

March/April 1960 for yours assuming a roughly even production throughout the year (600/month).

    Various serial numbers/links here. HTH

If you do a search, Richard, you may find an old thread of mine where I listed all serial numbers and dates, as received from Walther in response to an email request.

List of LP53 Dates are on my sig. site.

    Hi Patrik
The bit you are missing is the part that is the hardest to get hold of, it is the main part of the site that is lost so, sorry, cannot help.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I too would like to date my LP53 S/N 028845.
I've had it for about 30 years but never looked into it before.
    Any help gratefully received

    That serial No. was 1958.

    Ser Nos. 25734 Jan 1958 - 33105 Dec 1958.

From a list issued by Walther, best I can do.

    Fantastic thanks.
Five years before I was born.
I'm lucky enough to have one in mint as new condition in its original box with its spare fore and rear sight blades and wooden clocking insert.
The only thing missing is the cleaning brush and owners manual so if anyone has those items they would sell.......
