As far as \I am aware, the AR has always been a mechanical no regged rifle but as DS isn't my usual cup of tea, there might be exceptions to the rule
The Mk1 Air Ranger, some Merlyn's and some early MK3's are regulated. If you look at the action with the stock off you will see what looks like a little bean tin in front of the trigger. To answer the OP. The early MK1 was an off shoot from the RWS500 which Daystate made originally for export markets. The later ones identifiable by the metal trigger gaurd have the Harper slingshot valve system which negates the need for a reg.

You can spend thousands and still miss a barn door or spend just enough and enjoy yourself. If you haven't got the talent to start with a million pound won't fix it. Whippet, Russell, a few bang sticks and a flat cap. http://www.smart-tech1st.co.uk

    I had a Mk1 in .177.
I liked it but had a good offer so it went a couple of years ago.

I have just bought a later 2010 Harper one in .22
The shot count is huge ,which appeals, and the gun feels light and well balanced.

With just a 3-9 40 AO Hawke it is accurate (in yesterday's wind!)
With 5.52 AA fields it does 11.30 ftlbs -unlike some recent Daystate models?

It goes against my rule of .177 for PCPs but I am a .22 man really.
Just have to work out the long range-70 yard - holdover.
Couldnt be arsed with the wind as well but no problems at 50.

It is a keeper I think.

as it happens I have also just acquired one in .22 but it is on ticket.
Have not held it for a long time as my friend stopped shooting and is now selling up.
I held it again the other day and was surprised how balanced the rifle feels even with the big bottle up front.
This is one accurate little rifle.
In a battle of wits I refuse to engage with an unarmed person.

    Sounds fun!

I was surprised at the weight and balance on these.
I'd assumed it would be front heavy but not so.

Much better than the compact looking Walther Rotex !
But the Germans seem to like heavy guns.
