Mine with a new longer spring to stop the bounce, and just TH and tight guide is also running nicely at 11.5 (.177)... it's snappy, but I'm not sure I'd call it harsh at all. Be interesting at the bash where we can compare, as I think perhaps people are being a bit fussy in saying the 99s shouldn't be pushed much over 10 FP in .177...

Nick, yours is the first post I've seen on the 99 that also mentions the bounce - this is clearly my experience too - I wonder if this is why people are preferring the .22s, rather than fixing the bounce with either piston weight (as you have done) or longer, softer spring (my route) ? Also interesting that with the bounce fixed, neither of us were short of power !

Will have to have a play with mine (if I ever get the chance!!!).

I haven't chronod recently, but out of the box it was doing 10.6. All seems good and I have been tempted to just leave big standard to see how she smooths out.

However.....had a quick plink last week. Going very nicely and printing tiny little groups on my short home range. I nearly stopped there. But then I pulled the .22 (earlier version) out of the cabinet as way of comparison. I fitted a Wonky spring, guide and top hat kit last year. De-burred, polished and Dri-Slided. Now, this little thing is on open sights, so lighter. But....WOW!! I'd forgotten how sweet this was. Firing cycle quick, but in no way harsh...just like snapping a thin sheet of glass. I just wanted to keep shooting but couldn't.

The plan is to get my .177 as nice as this...

With the standard .177, after quite an extended session, I did notice some "resonance" through my leading hand. Quite a sharp "backlash". Hadn't really noticed it before and this is what I'd mainly like to dial out and get it just like the .22.
