Were you at Stratford Armoury sale today?

If you were there can you please tell me:

    1. What the breakbarrel German gun listed as a Lincoln Jeffries really was?

    2. There was a lot of 3 early airrifles. One was a Gem but what were the 2 underlever ones?

You mean lot 197 which went for £480?
I asked Garvin the same question several weeks ago.

I believe it was an Ansonia. See Garvin's excellent entry at:
    http://www.network54.com/Forum/66282...t+safety+catch

It shows the lhs with the 'bolt' release. This one has the 'safety' just visible in the auction pic sticking out at the back of the trigger block above where the stock meets the gun

....and also possibly identified as a 'Diana Dolphin' - see:http://www.network54.com/Forum/66282...a+Dolphin+type

Though, as no safety visible, apart from obvious similarities, I think the 'Ansonia' a closer match. The 'Lincoln Jeffries' label on the stock is really just identifying LJ as an importer/retailer.

Don't know anything about the other group of three you referred to... Anybody?

Hi l think you will find it's a MGR made about early 1900s by Mayer & Grammelspacher before they changed their name to Diana, as l don't think the Ansonia ever had the safty fitted, as you say inported by LJ, not made by him.

Yes, I think you've nailed it there. Thank you.

You're right - we have a winner - I think the MGR here might be a perfect match right down to stock and checkering:

Any ideas on the identity of the others mentioned as a "group of three"?

If you mean lot 174, I may be wrong but...

The top gun looks like one of those cheap Chinese lever action BB guns that were about some 15-20 years ago (copy of a Daisy??..cost about £25 new iirc)

The middle gun looks like a Langanham/Diana 3 type Gem.

The bottom gun...dunno, possibly a Daisy or King of some description?...
    blah blah

Hi l think the top one is a Dasiy, the middle one as you say is a Gem, and the last one is a very rare Columbian made at the date that is stamped on it these are in the blue book of airguns. the condition of it didn't look very good, but l would say they were still a good buy.
