    Sizing new or fired brass

I bought 300 x 308 cases which had been fired in another rifle and tried neck sizing only.....about half would not chamber in my rifle until I FL sized them...thus I agree that FL sizing is necessary for a first firing in your rifle. I will keep batches separate and determine how many neck sizings I can manage before FL sizing.

Are you wanting to split a Gnats nuts at 1000 yds, or wanting to put a bullet into a minute of fox or a minute of deer at hunting ranges?

If you want to wring the last 0.01" out of your groups spend big money, if you want to shoot better than factory at sensible money buy cheaper dies.

Going with the lee collet die set for 223 and 308.
If I need to buy a better seating die later I will

Surely it is the same size as used in factory ammo.
It may well be, but the dies forming it may well be on their way out, worn, or just simply off.

Many F class and precision bods re size new brass as it means that any subsiquent measurements are going to be the same/have the same effect.

We then re-checked after they had been fired a couple of times to see what shoulder movement etc was.

I whoot CSR now so all Ireally worry about is that its consistent and will chamber easilly in a dirty/hot AR or No4

Of course its the same size and there is no need to F/L size any of it, i have been using new brass when needed for all my rifles and have never sized any of it before loading.
I then neck size only untill heavy bolt lift necessitates F/L sizing or shoulder bumping.
