Very interesting summary of what each political party thinks regarding weapons ownership:-

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
I used to have a book written in the 1930s that applauded Mr Hitlers efforts in sustainability, particularly recycling. The early Green movement's links to National Socialism are not something they like to talk about.
The Green Party is a bloody joke, not only are their gun policies ridiculous, to say the least, the rest of their policies are not much better. They're anti car/motorist because they admit they'd hike up fuel duty and introduce road pricing to discourage us from using our cars.Apparently I've heard they would give every adult who's out of work £180 per week whether they wanted to work or not and I believe they'd double child benefit. They'd probably penalise companies that they considered were not green with extra taxes and environmental controls forcing them to go elsewhere. With their woolly headed idealistic views and policies they'd probably bankrupt the country in a short while and it would end up a basket case economically.

I don't know about their other policies, but one part of the Green Party gun policy is truly outrageous. Most of the rest is just vindictive nonsense.
Legitimate shooters applying for a licence will be expected to pay an additional levy to compensate the state for the overall the cost of gun crime.
Incredible! They are openly saying that law abiding people should - because of their choice of legal activity - pay more than anyone else towards the consequences of criminal activity. Talk about punitive.
Here is the relevant bit, which says you should have to buy a gun licence at its full recovery cost...
"...together with a new annual fee which is sufficient to repay the economic damage – to police, Court and NHS – inflicted on it by the abuse of guns generally."
The only bit of their gun policy which I have some slight sympathy for is the idea that before granting a firearms licence, an individual should have more than one good character witness to "discourage 'loners' and socially isolated individuals" from applying. But the Greens say 10 witnesses, which sounds absurdly high. Maybe three would be preferable to just one?

Were the Greens formed by a radical splinter group from the Monster Raving Loony Party?
Anyone who votes Green is either not fully aware of their policies or is not the full shilling or wants to live in some form of idealistic utopia(in their view).
Don't have an issue with them licencing the shooter but some of the criteria you require ATM to get a licence is a bit OOT.
Hopefully common sense will prevail.
