Bent Diana 52 threaded rod help

Apart from buying a new one, any suggestions on how to straighten it. I've done the best I can by hand but it's still a bit kinked/dog legged. Previous owner/s had it too tight.
    Thanks

Most likely the prev. owner (or someone) tried to close the lever before/without releasing the ABT button, that's the usual cause.

You might be able to get away with a small amount of bend but you'll have to adjust it carefully so that it both 'over centres' and allows the lever to close in the 'parked' position.

Chambers will have spares and they wont be too expensive - they were designed to be the weakest link (rather that rod than your fingers ).

If you want to straighten it more, try to roll it on a flat surface.
Use a marker to highlight the high point.
Place the rod between two high spots, I.E. two pieces of 2x4.
use a plastic, rubber mallet if you got or something else like a piece
of wood and a hammer and tap it.
Repeat process until it is straight.

This ^, it keeps the side lever in place when correctly adjusted.

The rod also acts as a spring closing breech.

    bent rod

All mine too have a slight bend dispite being ajusted correctly and not abused.the bend in the rod I believe has to have the outer curve or convex edge facing away from the action at least on mine it is so or the leavers will not close correctly.

Thanks for info, I wouldn't mind if it was a even bend but it's more of a kink. Will have a go tomorrow.

make sure to reset the length, the rods get bent as the adjustment is out....the rod has to just have a slight bend as you close up the breech so it just applies force to the seal etc.
