I use a Combro on my Crosmans, there is the occasional 'bad' reading but generally no probs.
I just received a chronoscope enquiry and I don't know the answer, can you lot help me?
"We shoot Avanti 888's (CO2) guns
Will the Combro work with these guns as the CO2 is visible upon discharge".
I seem to remember there was a problem with the cp-88 (or something like that) has that carried over to the Mk 4?

Again, I use my Combro when tuning Crosmans and no problems with CO2 confusing the readings so far.

Another Old Git.
Lots of people have tuned Crosmans and used them to check power.
Tested my Zastava last week Ok.
Then I shot it with one of my rifles (springer).

Interesting that you should ask this question Robin.
A shooting aquaintance recently rang me up all in a fluster about his "way over the top" Umarex pistols. He was testing his collection using his Combro (not sure which model) and while all his conventional air guns were giving good readings, apparently his Umerex guns were recording some crazy figures.
Being a law abiding upstanding citizen but not overly wise in the ways of chrono, he was a tad concerned that he might be in possesion of firearms and hence I got the worried phonecall. I told him there was no way that an Umarex could rack up the numbers he was quoting but I could tell he was reluctant to take my word for it. A quick shot over a conventional chrono soon eased his concerns though.
Any theories on the cause of the wayward readings?
I put it down to the detector being affected by the gas discharge in some way. Well it sounded feasible and sufficiently scientific to appear plausible to him anyway. I am just glad I didn't have to go the full hog and get into warp field explanations and the effects of time/space continuum theory
I could understand slow but not way over, unless it was 1386 fps?Originally Posted by Gun Collector
That's a symptom of a Mk 4 which is having trouble with capacitor C8, but I would expect it to happen randomly, not just on one particular gun
Any details would be appreciated.
I had some issues when trying to chrono my Anics...
I have seen bad readings (as in no velocity displayed) with my Mk 3 with CO2 match air pistols on occation. The late Don Nygord (US Olympic shooter and gun guru) noted to me once about the CO2 blasting out around the pellet as it left the barrel. I always presumed it was the CO2 blast causing my chronograph problems.Originally Posted by robinghewitt
