Just wanted to say a big thank you to Ford AGC and SIHFT for not only letting the 3 reprobates/visitors from Meon Valley come along yesterday, but also for laying on what was an excellent day’s shooting.

I became “hooked” on the UKAHFT format earlier on this year when I did a few of last winter’s Southern Hunter Series, and judging by my colleagues comments on the way home both of them are now similarly smitten. In fact, they couldn’t shut up about what a great day they’d had, how delighted they were to have gained a couple of badges, and what a friendly bunch the chaps from all the Sussex clubs are. Needless to say, all three of us will be at the next round at Swallows (thanks Mike!)

Things we liked about the shoot yesterday:

    a) How welcome we were made (despite the three of us sometimes being a little bit “vocal” of our enjoyment as we made our way around the course!)
    b) That the wind at Ford was kind on our first visit, giving us a nice and gentle introduction to the venue – and even the rain held off! 
    c) The course – varied, interesting and v.enjoyable.
    d) Whilst all three of us typically achieve higher scores when we shoot in competitions such as the Central Southern FTA Winter League (different rules - 2 pegs to each lane, etc.), we feel that shooting to UKAHFT Rules presents not only a greater challenge but that it also gives a stronger degree of motivation to raise our game and improve our level of shooting
    e) The banter – as mentioned above, a really great group of people whose company and wit we enjoyed hugely

    Things we didn’t like yesterday:
    a) Not bringing a shooting mat – that concrete is very unforgiving on the elbows (lesson learned for next time!)
    b) Having to go home
    c) Having to wait 3 weeks until the next round at Swallows
