    Milbro / Diana MK4 pistol info.

    I saw a boxed example today, but on looking at the cocking lever, it was stamped Milbro instead of of Diana as per the box, same pistol and box as here in the top 6 photos;

    http://www.network54.com/Forum/68145...rious+boxes%29

    Grip base was stamped 5-60 which I presume is D.O.M.

    So were they sent out with different stampings

    Diane et al

    Millard Brothers took over the Diana name after WW2 and the equipment. Milbro is the short version of their name and Diana they retained for a number of years. Very confusing but then go look at Original.
    These MK4s come in many boxes and guises (sights etc) but are all Milbro/Millard Brothers.

    Hi Eddie,

    Sorry to have missed you today - we did briefly speak with Helen and I thought I caught sight of you at one stage before losing you in the crowd.

    I saw two of these pistols today and yes, as has been mentioned the Mark IV can be encountered in numerous guises, marked Diana and Milbro. I once had a box that was contoured to the pistol and had about 8 sides! Quite an unusual example but correct. The same stallholder also showed me an early pre war Webley Mk I pistol that was fitted with a post war barrel. The right side was pitted but he insisted in saying it was in excellent condition and a desirable early version! When I saw the £275 asking price, I wished him well with the sale

    Lots of airguns around but I thought asking prices were pretty steep considering their overall condition.

    Hi John, I was keeping an eye out for you guys but it was busy to say the least ...I too did not spot to much that was special, but after I met a friend from our club we walked round together for a bit and found a really clean unmolested (with clear etching and foresight tunnel) MK2 Airsporter inside, It looked a little used sleeper, and although I was sorely tempted my friend eventually bought it for £100, which I think was a bargain, especially when compared to the asking price for some very average later examples on the day.

    Did you see all the fairground box targets (in stainless) ?

    Hi Eddie,

    If that Airsporter was stood against a car door inside one of the halls, then yes I saw it. £100 is a real bargain I agree. I didn't see the stainless targets but did see a painted fairground sign for £20 that was a little too plain for me. Did you see the ex-fairground BSA Cadet with cork adaptor, chain and well used finish? It was priced at £95! I also saw a bog standard 1950s Webley Junior that looked to have been complete with badly fitted wooden MkI grips. It was described a rare 1930s model for £175 or £195

    Kind regards,

    John

    Sorry I missed you too yesterday! Sounds like you found a real bargain, especially as I saw a plain 1970s example with some wear at around £175 on another stall.

    Hi John, that was the one ...We thought the stall holder maybe had bought it earlier, but he was selling it for his brother, who he said had hardly used it ever as far as he recalled.

    The cadet you saw was one of about 8 for sale last year, probably one of best ones...I think they were £60 or so each originally, and remember possibly writing on here about them, they also had various fair boards relating to ''shoot all packets off the shelf'' ''xxx shots for £1'' and I remember thinking aloud if I should have got a couple, but they were so dire.

    I have done some research and found out where all this stuff comes from, there is a regular auction fairly close where the Malvern sellers of this stuff acquire the fair stuff, and then sell it on at the fayre, may be worth keeping an eye out if you are interested as they have had several shooting related lots over the last 2 years apparently.

    Thanks Ed I remember hoping that Airsporter would not fall over when I saw it and also recall you mentioning the fairground stuff. It was one of the reasons for attending yesterday's fair but if that Cadet was the best one and you turned down the signs, they must have been dire, as I know you are keen on this kind of memorabilia.

    Kind regards,

    John

    Hi John, the signs were nice...the guns horrors!

    Make a brew and trawl the results search, the guns will be somewhere, and they will still have the selling price, a very good site that does this so you can gauge the market. I just had a quick look and found;

    http://www.elephanthouseauctions.com...ype=A&lot=8912

    http://www.elephanthouseauctions.com...ype=A&lot=8999

    Some real bargains if you dig, commission only 10%...and from what I have seen the Malvern sellers mark up by 75%-100% by the time it is re-sold.

    Thanks Ed - that's a very interesting selection. I loved that old 6D sign. One to keep an eye on I think.

    Hi John,

    it would have been good to see you as well, I still have the BSA I relieved you of, it shoots superbly.

    we did see a 9000 series pre war BSA, tidy looking screw heads, but sadly missing the front sight. £140.

    so that was left with the seller
