Saw a very nice Challenger at Bisley the other day, well used but not abused with rubbish scope though nice quality silencer. Should have bought it but didn't.
A few years back could I find any Challenger... like heck. Took five years to find a a mint in box one in .177. Have to say I was tempted to keep it but really these are best as a .22 farm yard range gun. They point and shoot really well but no HW77! The stocks are a really nice shape and darkish colour too. The Maxi rail is a bit Marmite. BSA only made them for a year or so in 1986?? and they are rare. Anyhow that mint one I could have sold ten times even at quite a high premium. The buyer was delighted.
Well I've found another one, in very close to mint and .22. I've yet to have a play with it but it will go on sale. Its not boxed, nor any paperwork, but otherwise outstanding. (I've looked hard and there are four blemishes but so light could have been done in the factory.) I have a Silver Crown 6x40 and mounts to compliment it, though not quite the same condition but pretty good, which comes free with the deal. It will go up for £350 this weekend as I have one collector that I should offer it to first. So first dibs now if interested. Pictures will follow but its a Challenger and superb and the obvious premium reflects its condition.
I would swop it for a mint Webley Omega .177 long barrel, which I'm still looking for having missed one last year
Thats collecting: when its right grab it
