Whats good in the budget end of the market?

After having a clear out of the cabinet, i find myself in need of a no nonsense full power .177 springer. Just for the odd pigeon or rabbit where i don't fancy using the shotgun.

Budget £150-200 for gun only, i've got a scope here! So whats good at that end of the market?

    thanks

The Hatsan is a nice, honest rifle and excellent value for money.

However, as the Tinster says, if the 99S fits you, go for it. Yes, cheaper prices abroad, a little over £200 over here. Quality piece of kit with sublime firing manners and superb trigger. Lovely out of the box, even better with a small fettle.

Highly recommended and with many satisfied users here on the BBS and elsewhere.

I recently went into my gunshop May of London , Phil who works there
is a friend, he said try this B/b springer the Remmington Express in .177
i was very impressed with it , so impressed i bought it on the spot
£140-00 i think i paid it shoots very accurately , and handles well
as a bog standard airgun with no tuning its brilliant.

    That's about right.
Be careful with the Dutch one's, my new out of the box 50s .22 was doing 13.4ftlb and harsh with it. Still harsh even now it's spring has been cut down and doing 11.2.
Have a standard 99s spring on it's way from Chambers, will report my findings soon.

Have a thought for the Cometa 400 http://www.bisley-uk.com/product_v3.php?i=CO400A&c=14

It proved to be the most popular springer that the club possessed for newbies to try out.

I have to agree with Tony - HW99s if you can afford it, Hatsan 55s/60s otherwise. Keep it in mind that the Hatsan is a big beast compared to the HW.....
