    Question for the pellet collectors

    Evening all

    I saw a pellet tin for sale today. Bulldog pellets in a typical metal tin. Are they likely to be old/collectable?

    Cheers all

    The Bulldog name has been used by more than one manufacturer, with the earliest pre war versions fetching a considerable premium. Later tins from the 1980s often come up for sale on a certain auction site and are not worth a fortune. Try searching under completed listings on that auction site to get an idea of value (on the assumption the tin you saw is a 1980s example).

    Hi,

    Below is a link to a photo of my pre-war packet of Bulldog pellets which has to be among the brightest examples of advertising artwork ever produced.

    Hi, if like this;

    http://www3.telus.net/public/a5a36520/Bulldog%20Tin.jpg

    Then £2-5 seems to all they fetch I have found, for some reason very cheap compared to similar period stuff.

    The earlier boxes go for a lot more, in fact 10 times the price (top left here);

    The other two tins are USA sold Bulldog branded, really nice colourful tins but hard to find.

    HI, Yes these can sell well, as John says do a bay search, then click on ''completed items'' ...you will see a huge variation in price dude to varying circumstances, but it gives an idea

    Thanks for that.

    I have a few old tins kicking around, unlikely to get used. Also a small cardboard packet of pellets purchased in Indonesia 20+ years ago unopened and not spotted since.

    Then there's 'The File' An A4 lever arch file with just about every document I could get my hands on circa 1985-90, that's like a treasure trove of plans, ideas, newly invented gear, catalogues, etc...

    Thanks, I do suspect it is an 80s example. Will go back and have a better look.
