The New 2015 Autum/Winter 6 yard postal series includes Supported Air Pistol Shooting

The very first National Competition for Supported Air Pistol Shooting in the UK is to be included in the new series of the MPL 6 yard postal series and it will be open to anyone of any age that would like to take part.

The proposed rules will follow in the next thread but briefly we will used the same NSRA Air 8 air pistol targets that we have always used for the MPL postal competitions and the cards are to be shot from a standing position at 6 yards.

Anyone that is unable to stand due to injury or handicap may shoot from the seated position.

Anyone who is aged 70 or over can also choose to shoot from the seated position if they prefer.

I hope this new class of air pistol shooting will get the support it deserves () and we do get a good response and some good entries for it.

Although the class will obviously appeal to the handicapped, injured and those of us that are in our senior years it should also appeal to the able bodied and younger shooters too as it only takes away the weight of the pistol but still demands all other pistol shooting skills such as correct sighting and trigger control to make a good shot.

Tests with a simple 50mm alloy tube fixed to a camera tripod were very interesting and did not produce any immediate increases in normal scores so enough skill to execute a good shot still remain with the shooter making this a very good class to get involved with.

A simple DIY stand can be knocked up by most people to either stand on the floor of stand on a table or bench to give the correct height to shoot in the standing position.

Making a shorter version for those that will shoot from the seated position would be equally simple to make or have made.
