    Mk1 Valuation Please?.

    A Webley Mk1 pistol in .177,found in a friend's grandparent's barn,yes literally a barn find.
It's complete and the forend is stamped with a list of world patents, dated 1925.
There's a twist safety catch on the left hand side and the grip features the winged pellet inset badge.
Overall reasonable but would benefit from a wipe with an oily rag.
A ball park figure would be much appreciated .

Don't suppose he found the box as well? All I find in the shed is spiders!! Condition is everything, I sold a mint boxed one for 500 8years ago and would suspect one in half that condition box less to be nearer 200, but what a find! How's the meteor sale going?
    Regards
    Peter

Hello Peter,no box I'm afraid,Ellie said the pistol was found in a livestock pen,the finish is quite badly pitted.
Still got the Meteor, seems it's destined to become a family heirloom .
    All the best

£20? £30? Very little if there are no parts salvagable and it doesn't work. More if there are/it does.

    Hello John,

If you provide the serial number, it would help date the pistol.

    Kind regards,

    John

lf you could put some photos up that would be a great help, but the condition by the sounds of it is poor so about £50-60 just as a shooter

Hello John,A cotton bud and some 3in1 oil revealed the numbers 44499 on the frame, above the left hand grip.
It would be interesting to be able to date the gun, however approximate.
    Thanks again,
    John

Thanks John. Your pistol should be stripable from both ends (early versions could only be dismantled from the rear). An approximate date would be 1933, give or take a year either side.

    You're a goodun,thank you.
As the image of the pommel shows it looks as if some hay shaker has used it as a hammer,on the farm, damaging the grips in the process.
The overall finish is quite pitted, the spring retaining plug at rear is rather chewed and the barrel pivot screw and nut are non original.
But it does cock correctly, and is complete,I've not attempted to fire a pellet though.
    Does your valuation figure stand?

After seeing pics I'd say 50 to 80. Surprised no one has bought your meteor yet, must be the price!

I bought an almost identical one afew months ago, condition similar but was alittle better and I happily paid £100 for it,overpriced? Maybe, but it was the cheapest I could find and the only way I could afford to own one and it wasn't like it had been up for sale for months. I would say 80-90 for yours would be fair money.

I think the owner would be happy with that sort of figure,I'm just waiting for her decision as to what to do with it.
    I won't hold my breath .
