Over the past few months I have had great pleasure in fettling/ rejuvenating some old air pistols. My particular favorite being a battered old Diana 5g, which after removing 13 assorted pre load washers and giving it a lit of elbow grease plus a couple of spares from chambers, is now like a new gun. And very accurate. My question is, after a lot of googling I can not find any useful info on springs for an old hw45 I am currently working on. The original spring has massive preload and is as long as those in some rifles I own. Would shortening the spring to give maybe only an inch of preload really make that much difference? Any tried this?
