Webley Pistol Collectors - Test your market knowledge

Brian very kindly put up a thread about the Sept auction that Holts are running.

In that auction is a cased post war Senior with oil can and pellet tin.

    Here: http://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com...9712&saletype=

A few people have speculated what it may make,so just for fun and to test your knowledge on market value I propose that we speculate on the 'Hammer' price of lot 620.

Closest to the hammer price wins ----- being smug for the day !

    I'll start :- £735

I think it will do £480 and personally I wouldn't even pay that but I know it appeals to some, it's a lot of money right now and there will be Auction costs on top of the hammer price.

    Hi,

I will stick with my original high end estimate of £600 hammer which would equate to around £800 with costs. This is based on an expected dealer price of circa £900, but as this an auction, I guess anything can happen.

    Regards

    Brian

Someone will probably pay around a grand all in for this, so I reckon a hammer price therefore of £810. What is the prize for the winner by the way as I don't want to be entering a competition for nothing!

I think slug-gun has the measure of this sale, because the component parts of the lot could be worth £1,000 if sold individually, assuming they're all genuine. So I'll guess a hammer price of £775.

    I'll estimate a hammer price of £850.
The post war 'Rexine' Webley case seems harder to find than the pre war leather and canvas version, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the hammer price exceed my estimate.

I am thinking 1k a piece all in. But having said that where do you find them? Also Tim dyson has repro boxes with guns for 400ish both prewar and postwar examples.

And like people above have said it will only take 2 collectors to want them and off they go!!!

    Valuations

One thing this thought provoking thread has shown is how subjective valuations really are. It just goes to show at best they are estimates and should be considered a rough guide only.
