    HW80 (and probably 85/90 too) quick Q

Can't tell from the exploded diag on chambers site - should there be a spring type washer under the breach pivot bolt (I think at the "nut" end) ?

    TIA - JB

Should be one at both ends John - flat hardened spring-washers

Perfect thanks. I do vaguely recall, but it's been a while since I've had one!

    Thanks both,

On several occasion with various HW models Ive found a flat spring split washer on the bolt side and a round profile spring split washer on the nut side.

I think all 80s have two.

However, when I stripped my (early) 95 last year, there was only one, which was on the bolt side. I thought that it had been left out by mistake at the factory (which it probably was).

However, I rang and spoke with UK Neil and Welsh Willy and they both confirmed that they have come across numerous examples with just the one fitted.

Then you go on the Chambers and Knibbs sites and it only shows one. I even rang Knibbs and they said that all there information showed that the 95 only has one fitted.

    Very strange, very confusing.

But I'd always be happier with one on each side.

well, I've found one split washer of exactly the right size, so I'll stick that in (bolt side) and see how it goes. If it works loose, I'll add another to the nut side

Yep, then they changed to spring washers both sides at some point, I've noticed that too -

The Barrel pivot bolts sold by Chambers all come with 2 spring washers.
