I've bought several Harris style (Copy) for round £15-20 and had no trouble.

I've used a Deben one for 3 years or so with no issues.

I'm not sure I'd go for the really cheap ones.

The simple ones are fine for the price but I just sent a " swivel " one back as the pins were too thick and wouldn't locate into the sling log.

I have had the opposite experience. The 2 Deben bipods I had were complete crap. Manky metal, no strength, rubber pads that move, will never buy another Deben. The only reason I did buy another Deben was reading all the good reports on here.

    1) The rubber pads move and this can mark your stock.
    2) The metal is painfully thin or short in places, critical places like QD stud pins being too short, the metal body being thin.
    3) The tilt mechanism does not tighten up enough meaning it wobbles like a jelly in an earthquake.

Sorry but I will stick to Harris. Taken the offending one back for a refund.

What rifle is it for? How much are you prepared to spend on one?

I've had Shooters ridge ones and they were ok But
Sold them after getting a Genuine Harris 9-13" tilt version then got another,
I also had a Harris 13-23" but found it too wobbly on full extension ,
IMHO Harris are the best but it's down to budget they're a bit dearer (But worth it)

I tried to swap the longer Harris 13-23" on here and received a pm from a fella saying he had a Deben tilt 9-13" so I
accepted the deal and posted mine to him a day or two later his turned up But it wasn't a Deben
It was a Cheap Chinese copy and a week later one of the legs dropped out and then after carefully using it like this
one of the pins that attach the bipod to the sling stud came out and the side of the bipod dug in deeply on the side of my stock,
Fella was adamant that it was a Deben so what could I do ...Nothing!
I said then I'd Never have anything else but Harris Bipods ...Quality made and worth every penny!

I'm going to try a Harris. The rubber on both of my Debens has moved and caused marks on 2 of my rifles.

I recently bought a Buffalo River 15-23" detachable bipod. I need to get some sort of cushioning for this before I take it out because it doesn't come with any. It looks good though - it'll cant and pan. Also, the leg release seems quieter than the Debens.

    All of the above.

Buy a Harris bipod. I have had a non notched, swivel head, 9-13 inch for years. It's very well made, leg operation is smooth and quiet, I've used it some awful conditions but looks and works as if it were new, the tilt head/lockout works very well and there isn't any slop whatsoever. What more do you want from a bipod?

Have to agree. Bought cheap and mid priced imitations and been let down and disappointed.
My harris has not missed a beat.
After lots of purchases over time I have come to the conclusion that buying the absolute best you can afford is without doubt the best policy long term.

In reality if I have one bug about harri it's how the pod attaches. its fiddly and a bit of a pain. Versapod is brilliant by comparison but the pods are not as good.
I also think Javelins magnetic system is cool.

Harris is a benchmark and reliable.

    Cheap is cheap.

Harris ones are great but very pricy. The 3 cheap basic Chinese ones that I have are OK besides the rubber pads having a mind of their own. The two 6~9" ones seem to have springs with different ratings as one is quite soft and the other quite stiff . If money is no object stick to Harris.
