any opinions on these scopes in the market for a new scope

They'll be great value & hard to beat for the money.

Because that is & will always be the case with base model Hawke scopes.

Although I note the 4-16 is only in AO or SF not plain Vantage.

I bought a Vantage 3~9 X 40 AO Mil dot for about £58.00 and this is a lovely clear scope with no frills. For more serious work I use my Sidewinder or Nikko Sterling 6~24X56 but these weight a ton and the high mount really messes with the balance of the gun, but I love simple light and clear scopes. MTC mamba lite is also a brilliant light weight scope but somewhat pricy.
