Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2015 - Round 8 Results

    Hi all

Big thanks are due to the Horsham Hawkes crew for putting out a great course for today’s SIHFT Round 8.

Good shoot all round, with no one getting too close to a clearance, but – with an average score of exactly 50 and just 0.1 below this year’s highest average – giving hope and expectation to our newer members. Spot on, Hawkies.

It was also an almost entirely windless morning and, thankfully, rainless day – even a bit of sunshine toward the end. But, oh boy, were there some dark alleys in them there woods. Not sure about the rest of you, but I failed to find the light switch on those couple of lanes between the clubhouse and car park. A very dingey spot.

Here is the full set of results …..

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss.

Prize drawer winners today were :

    • Lawrence Ray – the £30 cash prize, and
    • Me me me me me & moi – the Air Arms goody bag (pleased with that as I was in need of a new Air Arms bonce cover)

Team scores today and total cumulative points won under our new scheme are :
    Club Round 7 Total Points
    Oaks 280 94
    Buxted 284 86
    Horsham 279 82
    Swallows 251 70
    Ford 257 65
    Iden Fern 243 59

The above are slightly but importantly different from those read out during the end-of-shoot session as we (scorers) had mistakenly noted one Buxted member as a Visitor. This resulted in Buxted winning the round (rather than drawing with Mile Oak) and taking, rather than sharing, the 12 points. This has reduced the gap with Oakies by 1 point. Additional cards had to be drawn on behalf of a shortfall for the minimum team players for Iden Fern, Ford and Swallows FTC.

I expect that some of us will meet up again soon – at Mile Oak tomorrow, the Air Arms event on the 6th, and/or Meon on the 13th. There’s also the HFT Masters hosted by Horsham Hawkes on Saturday the 12th. So many shooting opportunities – we are blessed indeed

Happy and safe shooting to you all ahead of the next SIHFT gathering for Round 9 at Swallows FTC in 3 weeks, on Sunday 20th September.

Many thanks to Horsham and everyone involved in putting today together; all the chaps from Meon really enjoyed the shoot and are eagerly awaiting the next round at Swallows on Sept. 20th 😀

A goodly number of the "Meon Mafia" are all booked up for a trip to Fletching next week and a few of us will be at Mile Oak tomorrow, so I'm sure we'll bump into quite a few of you over the next week or so. I think that MVAC take the view that we are blessed to be so close to some excellent shooting and friendly clubs in Sussex - so much so that we'd love to come and join in next year's SIHFT on an "official" basis if you'll let us 😉

    Hi Nick

The topic has already been 'loosely' discussed. I'll make sure the full set of heads-of-state are consulted and that the Meon Mafia has an answer soon.

    Cheers

Don't have an issue with that, Herp - in fact our ground at Hen Woods is so close to the county border, we're are literally on your doorstep already 😀

Great course, fun shoot, thanks Hawkies..... even the Burger van turned up, your ground must be blessed

Thanks Graham for the company and good shooting mate, wonder what you'll turn up with next time

Really well done to Adam Longhurst (Buxted) on a superb score, you put some of us (well me) to shame.

Thanks to Simmo and Fluffy for the transport, truly appreciated.

    HERE you go Chilly.

You are currently beating Geoff ... but only 'cos you've shot one more round than he has

Hope to see you both for Round 9 at Swallows FTC on the 20th.

Nearly but not quite. Part of rule 1 was applied yesterday .....

    Course Checking
Before the commencement of each round, the course set by the host club will be checked visually for compliance with current UKAHFT rules. Checking will be conducted by one experienced member from each of two visiting clubs, nominated in agreement with the host. If any doubt is identified on any aspect of the course, the host will be asked to check for distance, position, obstacle, etc., and rectify any confirmed non-compliance.
Once this check is complete and the course approved, then unless there is a majority decision by at least 3 senior marshals, NO target may be withdrawn from the competition for rule violation and all targets will count for all competitors.

Rule 7 is our backstop, sitting on a page all on its own .......

    RULE 7
    NO WHINGING !!
We like this one. Has to be invoked fairly frequently, but nowhere near as often as before it was written in to the book. Firmly believe that ALL serious HFT rule books should include it.
