When Richard says he has a box of scopes, he has a big box of scopes
All the best Mick
Hope you all had a good day at the fayre.
Bisley was quiet from an airgun collecting perspective, which was good from my point of view as my wallet remains fairly undamaged. I still managed to find a boxed pistol though and a substantial batch of 1960s and 70s airgun related advertising.
What did y'all find?
John
I got:
Engraved venom 80
Skan mk1/2 bullpup
Hw45
Omega
Boxed crosman m1
2240 pistol
Couple of scopes
Old bsa under lever........
Think that's it..... Nothing I don't regret not buying either
Not such a good day for me as l only sold 4 l usualy sell more, but l picked up a nice aircane and pump thanks Scot.
I dropped in for a mooch around ( Melbourne is my home town ), good to see lots of folks there..
Didn't buy anything but lots of nice stuff there!
It was good to meet up with the Melbourne regulars again yesterday, the best part is I have got the barrel I was after, thanks Micky.
Well done Guy.
Like a collector who doesn't hold back!
I`m sorry to say that myself and a friend thought that the number of items for sale and number of tables was well down on the previous events. And. where were the burgers ? Just as well the bar was serving some very nice rolls at a £1 a time.
Ended up with a very nice scope though.
Not yet. The plan is to once again have 2 Fayres next year, one in April and another probably in October TBC.
Phil is already on the case and hopes to publish the dates as early as possible so that people have plenty of time to plan and avoid clashes.
This year's events resulted in a donation of £450 being made to the Royal British Legion, so thank you for all those who supported the Fayres.
Good to hear the events were successful and resulted in a substantial donation to the RBL.
Would it be possible to steer clear of October next year? There are already two established fairs in October at Bisley, this year held within a week of eachother, one of which clashed with the Melbourne event. We've asked the organisers at Bisley why they have to have two fairs so close together and each has a history, so there are no plans to rearrange them. By the way there have been rumours that arms fairs won't be held at the Bisley Pavilion from next year due to a change in ownership and potential refurbishment but it seems trade bookings are being taken for 2016, so we should be good for another year yet.
There is very little in the 'fair' calender between November - February and July - September, so perhaps a date during either may be a good time for the Melbourne fair?
This is purely a selfish request from Southern collectors who also want to enjoy something you Midlanders have
John
Hi John,
The Fayre organisation is down to Phil and the committee, I just post on the BBS to spread the word a bit. I can't see the 6+ weeks either side of Christmas being very popular, it's empty for a reason?!
I'll let the committee know the dates of other events, in the hope of avoiding a clash, but there are other factors which have a bearing too.
Post what dates are known for fairs in 2016 and I'll pass them on.
Bisley Trafalgar and Phoenix events don't appear to have dates yet? Here's what I've got so far.
Commercial events 2016 dates:
Birmingham Arms Fair 21st Feb, 19th Jun, 18th Sept, Nov 20th
Bisley 27th Mar, 30th Oct
The Bisley Phoenix is scheduled for the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (Friday to Sunday) and the Trafalgar is usually on the mid October weekend. Then there's the Bisley Imperial meeting near the beginning of July (usually 1st or 2nd weekend in July). Would be good to see something in December/Jan to get away from all the Christmas commercialism. The major issue I foresee is the weather though at this time of year. Some years you can be lucky but others have brought the country to a standstill.
Kind regards,
John
